Alison Padfield joins Bar Council judging panel

Alison Padfield joins the judging panel for the Bar Council’s Legal Reporting Awards. The other judges are Desmond Browne QC (Chairman of the Bar), Fiona Jackson (Bar Conference 2009 Chairwoman), John Cooper (25 Bedford Row) and Danny Shaw (BBC Home Affairs correspondent).

The Bar Council set up the annual Legal Reporting Awards 19 years ago to recognise print and broadcast journalists, whose work contributes to a greater public understanding of legal issues.

In the broadcast category, last year’s winner was Clive Coleman, for his Radio 4 Law in Action piece on judicial review, broadcast in March 2008.

In the print category, last year’s winner was James Lewis’s piece on the BAE systems case, published in Legal Business in April 2008.

The 2009 Awards will be presented at the Bar Conference on 7 November 2009.
