Our friend and colleague, Laurence Willicombe, passed away on 29 July 2021.
Laurence joined us in 1999 and worked his way up to being Team Leader before leaving for Old Square Chambers in 2006. We were delighted when Laurence rejoined us in 2014 as a Practice Manager. His charm, superb work ethic and great sense of humour helped form the foundations of our Practice Management and Marketing teams. He was respected and liked in equal measure by everyone at Devereux.
Laurence was loved by many of our clients, and was recognised in the Legal 500 directory for a number of years, commenting that he "...‘stands out as a brilliant clerk’.
Outside of work, Laurence was an amazing dad to two lovely children and husband to Natasha, who was also a member of the Devereux family, working as a clerk with Laurence in the 1990s. Laurence had an unwavering passion for football, cricket, golf and boxing, and was a regular at The Oval and Selhurst Park. He was a FA level 1 coach, and was “manager, coach, secretary, taxi driver and chief bottle-washer” for his son's under 12s side, Bromleians United.
We all miss Laurence very much.
