Devereux Chambers is delighted to announce that Matthew Sellwood has been appointed by the Lord Chancellor to sit as a salaried Employment Judge at London South Employment Tribunal. As a result, Matthew has retired from the Bar and will no longer be able to accept instructions from clients.

Matthew was a pupil at Devereux from October 2014 to September 2015 and was then taken on as a tenant, developing a practice in employment law. He took an active part in the administration of chambers, including membership of the Tenancy Committee and the Chambers Supervision Committee. He said; "I have greatly valued my time at Devereux and am enormously appreciative of the support I received from both colleagues and staff. I will take many fond memories of chambers to my new role as an Employment Judge".

Head of Chambers Alice Mayhew KC added;  “I am both pleased and sad that Matt Sellwood has secured a position as an Employment Tribunal judge. As those in the employment team know it is vital to have excellent judges who know their stuff - I have no doubt that Matt is going to be brilliant. Matt has been a superb member of Chambers, and we all wish him the very best in his new role”.

All at Devereux thank Matt for his over decade-long service to Chambers, and wish him the best in his new role.
