We are delighted to announce that Emily Bacon & Rob Schultz have today commenced their tenancy at Devereux Chambers, following the successful completion of their pupillage.
Having completed her undergraduate degree in History and Spanish at the University of Michigan, Emily went on to complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Law and Bar Vocational Studies courses at City University in London. Prior to joining Devereux, Emily gained substantial experience as a paralegal at the international employment firm Littler, before taking up a role as Caseworker at the Cleaners and Allied Independent Workers Union (CAIWU) where she successfully represented union members in the Employment Tribunal. In addition, Emily gained advocacy experience with Quest Legal Advocates, representing clients in the County Court.
Rob transferred to the bar having been a Senior Associate at an international law firm in London. This followed completion of an LLM in the United States in 2020 as a Fulbright Scholar. Rob began his litigation career as a Barrister and Solicitor in New Zealand (2015-2019) where he acted as sole and junior counsel before New Zealand’s courts and in commercial arbitrations. Prior to commencing practice, Rob completed a two-year judicial clerkship at the Court of Appeal of New Zealand. Rob completed assessed seats in pupillage with Chris Stone KC (Tax), Stephen Cottrell (Personal Injury) and Jesse Crozier (Employment) and sat in a non-assessed fourth seat with Marika Lemos KC (Tax).
Since completing their pupillage at Devereux, Emily and Rob have continued to build experience across Chambers’ broad range of practice areas including tax, employment, personal injury, and commercial litigation, and will accept instructions in all of Chambers' core areas.
All at Devereux warmly welcome Emily and Rob, and wish them the best of luck throughout their tenancy.
