The Forstater Judgment from the EAT – What does it really mean?

The judgment of the Employment Appeal Tribunal handed down on 10th June 2021 decided that Maya Forstater’s belief in the primacy of biological sex over gender identity was a protected belief within the protection of section 10 of the Equality Act 2010. At the same time, Choudhury P went to great lengths to emphasise that this was not wayleave for trans individuals to be discriminated against and harassed.

Choudhury P’s ruling has caused much comment, but what does it really mean? Will it be appealed? What are the practical implications for individuals, employers and service providers? This experienced panel of discrimination lawyers set out their views and then take questions.

This webinar was originally broadcast on 22 June 2021.
